A Joyful Farewell to Miguel Zubizarreta

2 minute read

Horizons 2016 was a great event. It gave us the opportunity to learn more about today’s best enterprise technologies. It also gave us the opportunity to celebrate the retirement of Miguel Zubizarretta, one of my close personal friends and the CTO of Hyland Software.

Miguel (affectionately known as Uncle Miguel by my kids) is the creator of OnBase. Not only did he write the very first lines of code for OnBase, he also made it into everything it is today – a world-class enterprise content management solution. If you’ve ever benefited from OnBase in some way, shape or form, you have Miguel to thank for it.

So thank him we did.

What better way to celebrate Miguel’s legacy than with an oversized Happy Retirement card and a pair of premium KeyMark sweatpants. Now Miguel can dress in retirement the same way he dressed in his professional career.

Unfortunately, Miguel wasn’t on-hand for the celebration due to an unexpected illness, so Ed McQuiston, SVP of Global Sales & Marketing for Hyland, accepted the comfy slacks on his behalf.

After a few more words about Miguel’s general awesomeness, we let our very own Kami Ocean and The Rhythm get back to rocking the Old Cigar Warehouse, while the rest of us signed the card and thanked him for all of his hard work over the years.

Best wishes, Miguel! Hope retirement is everything you’ve hoped for – and more!
