Q&A with Joseph
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My maternal grandfather, who passed away when I was very young. I have had extended family members recognize me because I look and act like he did at my age. Based on stories I’ve heard, his wisdom, advice, and experience would be invaluable.
What’s the most unusual place you have visited?
I swam with sea turtles and snorkeled in a volcanic crater off the coast of Hawaii that had previously been used by the US Navy for target practice.
What music do you listen to when no one is around?
Almost anything. I’m the kind of person to get in a very specific music phase and play a song or album on repeat for a week until I’m sick of it.
If you could tell the next generation one thing, what would it be?
Use the Oxford Comma!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking (but not baking!), coaching or playing basketball, and volunteering at church.
If you could go anywhere, right now, for 5 days all expenses paid, where would it be?
A Royal Caribbean cruise to anywhere tropical. Cruises are the best of all vacations rolled into one.
What is your favorite quote?
Practical efficiency is common and lofty idealism not uncommon; it is the combination which is necessary, and the combination is rare.
– Theodore Roosevelt
If you had to get a brand tattooed on your arm, what would it be?
The Clemson Tiger Paw. I guess I’ll settle for having it on my KeyMark polos, though.
At age 10, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Patent Attorney or Legal Counsel for athletes.
What’s the biggest life lesson you learned the hard way?
18 year old me didn’t know everything. Freshman year of college was very humbling and shaped my approach to work and learning more than any other year of my life.
If your future self could send a note to your current self, what would it say?
If you know the right thing to do, do it right away, even if it’s difficult or unpleasant. I try to remind myself of this often, and I’m sure I’ll still be doing so in the future.
